LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Theodore M. Fafinski upon the occasion
of his retirement after 16 years of distinguished service as the Super-
visor of the Town of Farmington
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who are devoted to the welfare of their community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Theodore "Ted" M. Fafinski upon the occasion of his retirement after 16
years of distinguished service as Supervisor of the Town of Farmington,
to be celebrated with a party in his honor on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at
Finger Lakes Gaming and Race Track, Farmington, New York; and
WHEREAS, After 25 years in local government, 16 of which he served as
Farmington Town Supervisor and member of the Ontario County Board of
Supervisors, Ted M. Fafinski will officially retire on May 16, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his illustrious career in public service, Ted Fafin-
ski honorably served on active duty in the United States Air Force for
more than two decades; his career in the private sector spanned several
years as a Human Resource Consultant and Operations Manager in the tele-
communications and financial services industries; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he has taught in the business and human resource
areas at both Onondaga Community College and Finger Lakes Community
College; and
WHEREAS, Ted Fafinski received an Associate in Applied Science degree
and an Associate in Arts degree before earning his Bachelor of Arts
degree from Columbia College; he went on to earn a Master of Science
degree from Chapman University; and
WHEREAS, As a full time Supervisor for the Town of Farmington, Ted
Fafinski also serves as the Budget Officer for the Town and Canandaigua
Farmington Water District as well as a number of special districts; in
addition, he represents residents of Farmington as a member of the
Ontario County Board of Supervisors, where he served as Chairman of the
Board for seven years between 2006 and 2012; and
WHEREAS, During his esteemed tenure, Ted Fafinski was instrumental in
the success of numerous town projects including the construction of
Mertensia Park Lodge in 2009; the rebuilding and doubling in size of the
waste water treatment facility; the development of a highway campus,
state-of-the-art highway garage and maintenance shop in 2013; the
construction of a 7,000-ton capacity salt storage facility in conjunc-
tion with the highway campus; and the construction of a state-of-the-art
security system for a new court facility; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community he so ably serves, Ted Fafinski
has served as a member of the Town of Farmington Bicentennial Committee,
the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, and the Farmington Historical Socie-
ty; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he is a member of the American Legion Post No.
259, Air Force Sergeants Association, and a life member of Disabled
American Veterans; and
WHEREAS, A man of true integrity, Ted Fafinski leads by example; he
has served the Town of Farmington with distinction, enthusiasm, dedi-
cation and honor, and has overseen countless initiatives that have made
his community a better and stronger place to live; and
WHEREAS, For the past 16 years, Ted Fafinski rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Town of Farmington, earning
the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Ted Fafinski over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to
others; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 47 years, Rosalie,
and their children, Daniel (Laura) and Rebecca (Eric), as well as three
grandchildren, Henry, Isabella and Sidney, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Theodore "Ted" M. Fafinski upon the occasion of his retirement
after 16 years of distinguished service as Supervisor of the Town of
Farmington; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Theodore M. Fafinski.
