LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Longwell
Lumber on March 16, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate the
long histories of certain family-owned business endeavors, which are the
cornerstone of economic success in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Longwell Lumber which was celebrated on
March 16, 2015, in Bath, New York; and
WHEREAS, One of the oldest businesses in the Village of Bath, Longwell
Lumber first opened its doors for business on March 16, 1915; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Longwell Lumber has provided high-qual-
ity building materials and outstanding customer service to individuals
and businesses in the Bath community; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable small business has experienced numerous addi-
tions and improvements over its lifetime; in 1965, the company completed
the construction of new facilities to supply the modern age of do-it-
yourself home projects; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Longwell Lumber built a large drive-thru ware-
house in 1999, to further satisfy the changing needs of its many loyal
customers; and
WHEREAS, Today, Longwell Lumber continues to play an integral role in
promoting the economic vitality of its community; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of President Walt Longwell, Longwell
Lumber looks forward to many more years of continued excellence and
growth serving the residents of the Village of Bath and the surrounding
areas; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Longwell Lumber, and to wish this
exceptional company well during the next 100 years; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Walt Longwell, President, Longwell Lumber.
