LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Edward J. Kehn, Sr. upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2015 Rensselaer County Good Scout
Award by the Boy Scouts of America on June 10, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its tradi-
tions, this Legislative Body is proud to honor Edward J. Kehn, Sr. upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 Rensselaer
County Good Scout Award by the Boy Scouts of America on Wednesday, June
10, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Edward J. Kehn, Sr. has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; his dedication to his community
and to scouting has had a lasting impact on the greater Rensselaer
community; and
WHEREAS, Edward J. Kehn, Sr. grew up in the Lansingburgh section of
Troy, New York, graduating from St. Augustine's School, where he served
as a Boy Scout in Troop 8 and later in the Explorer Scouts; he went on
to graduate from Catholic Central High School; and
WHEREAS, CEO of Wells Communications Service, Inc., Edward J. Kehn,
Sr. worked for Motorola, Inc. as a District Sales Manager in the Rail-
road and Airline Markets for 15 years prior to buying Wells Communi-
cations in 1976; and
WHEREAS, With offices in North Greenbush, Plattsburgh and Watertown,
New York, Wells Communications Service, Inc. has been a Motorola Wire-
less Communications Sales and Services Company since 1950; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Edward J. Kehn, Sr., Wells
Communications Service, Inc. sells and services Commercial and Public
Safety Wireless Two-Way Radio and CCTV Systems throughout Upstate New
York and Vermont; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Edward J. Kehn, Sr. served as a
Volunteer Fire Fighter in Rensselaer, Monroe and Dutchess Counties for
35 years; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 60 years, the
former Maureen Farrell, and their three children, as well as five grand-
children and two great-grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Edward J. Kehn, Sr. has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Edward J. Kehn, Sr. upon the occasion of his designation as recip-
ient of the 2015 Rensselaer County Good Scout Award by the Boy Scouts of
America on June 10, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Edward J. Kehn, Sr.
