LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sawyer Fredericks of Fultonville,
New York, upon the occasion of winning season eight of "The Voice" on
May 19, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
musical competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Sawyer Fredericks of Fultonville, New York, upon the occasion of
winning season eight of "The Voice" during the Finale on Tuesday, May
19, 2015; and
WHEREAS, This sensational victory capped off a months-long odyssey on
the NBC singing competition that not only catapulted the home-schooled
16-year-old farm boy to national stardom but put Fultonville, New York,
on the map; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with humble enthusiasm and determined purpose,
Sawyer Fredericks continuously advanced each week throughout the arduous
competition based on listeners' votes and downloads on iTunes, where the
songs he performed on "The Voice" consistently hit the Top 10; and
WHEREAS, Sawyer Fredericks was coached by Pharrell Williams, an accom-
plished singer/songwriter who guided and inspired young Sawyer to reach
his full potential and to pursue his promising musical career; and
WHEREAS, Sawyer Fredericks, notorious for his long locks, bowler hat
and gritty vocals, is a guitar player and creative songwriter who
learned his first guitar chords in the fall of 2010; and
WHEREAS, He lives and works on his family's farm, Windrake Farm, in
Fultonville, New York; whether bringing hay to the cows, collecting
eggs, riding a quad, or playing Elder Scrolls Online, Sawyer Fredericks
can always be heard singing or strumming his guitar; and
WHEREAS, This talented young artist, mature beyond his years, has
written more than 36 complete songs, and countless partial melodies, or
"doodles" as he would call them; and
WHEREAS, Sawyer Fredericks' stellar performances can be found on both
YouTube and his musician Facebook page; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, Sawyer Fredericks recorded as well as copyrighted
his first demo CD, featuring six original songs; in June of the follow-
ing year, he released his first full length album, "Out My Window"
complete with 15 original songs; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
recognize the amazing and unique talent of Sawyer Fredericks who has
brought enduring pride to his family, his fans, the State of New York,
and the Nation as a whole, fully confident of his response to a promis-
ing future and appreciative of the model he represents for all those
aspiring to be contestants on "The Voice"; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sawyer Fredericks upon the occasion of winning season eight
of "The Voice", and to wish him the best of luck and much success in all
his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sawyer Fredericks.
