LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating John Rooney on his outstanding
athletic career at Hoosic Valley High School
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young athletes within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their schools and who serve as role models
for their peers; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate John
Rooney on his outstanding athletic career at Hoosic Valley High School;
and
WHEREAS, John Rooney is the all-time leading scorer on the Hoosic
Valley High School Basketball Team with 1,843 points; currently, he
holds a 36-0 record as a pitcher on his school's baseball team; and
WHEREAS, In his junior year, this esteemed young athlete was named The
New York State Class C Baseball and Basketball Player of the Year; he
was also instrumental in leading his school's basketball and baseball
teams to state championships; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, John Rooney is an active member of the Hoosic
Valley High School student body and is on the honor roll; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by John Rooney is due in great
part to the efforts of his coaches, skilled and inspirational tutors,
respected for their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, John Rooney's overall high school career has been excep-
tional; he was loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish John Rooney continued success throughout his school years
and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate John Rooney on his outstanding athletic career at Hoosic
Valley High School; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Rooney.
