LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending BronxWorks upon the occasion of its
designation for special recognition
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions which would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and
its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
BronxWorks upon the occasion of its designation for special recognition;
and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to BronxWorks, a non-profit organiza-
tion, on a successful 2014, and what is shaping up to be a promising
2015; and
WHEREAS, In 2014, BronxWorks was nominated as a finalist for the
coveted Brooks W. Mahoney Award for Outstanding Board Leadership; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization surpassed an enrollment goal of over
2,000 SNAP (food stamps) recipients, transitioned 109 previously home-
less adults into permanent housing, and administered a Family Rewards
Program which brought over $700,000 in cash incentives to 317 house-
holds; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend BronxWorks upon the occasion of its designation for special
recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to BronxWorks.
