LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedder-
spoon upon the occasion of celebrating her 103rd Birthday on January 23,
2015
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Mildred
Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon upon the occasion of celebrating her 103rd
Birthday on Friday, January 23, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon was born on January 23,
1912, in New York City, the daughter of Czech immigrants; and
WHEREAS, Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon's family lived through
the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918, and came to the aid of those
afflicted; and
WHEREAS, As a young girl, Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon moved
with her family to the more rural surroundings of Mount Kisco, in West-
chester County; she also enjoyed attending dances, concerts and the 1939
New York World's Fair; and
WHEREAS, In 1947, this esteemed woman married Ford Wedderspoon, and
moved to Pierstown, New York, where she would live for over 60 years;
and
WHEREAS, Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon worked for many years
at the Fynmere Home in Cooperstown, a home for retired Presbyterian
Ministers; and
WHEREAS, Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon currently resides at
Woodside Hall, an adult home in Cooperstown, where she is a spirited
conversationalist and has many devoted friends who love her and come to
visit; and
WHEREAS, Among her many passions, Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedder-
spoon enjoys gardening, cooking, sewing crafts and caring for animals,
including her pet cat, Julie; and
WHEREAS, This beloved woman has enriched the lives of those around her
through her joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon upon the occasion of
celebrating her 103rd Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mildred Josephine Stadler Wedderspoon.
