LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross
Country Team upon the occasion of winning the 2015 New York State Class
A Cross Country Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive athletics can be achieved
only through rigorous training, mental and physical discipline, and a
dedicated coaching staff; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young individuals within our midst, who by achieving outstanding success
in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought great pride to their
school district and to their community; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and developing a sense
of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to hereby
recognize and congratulate the Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross Country Team
upon the occasion of winning the 2015 New York State Class A Cross Coun-
try Championship; and
WHEREAS, On November 14, 2015, the Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross Coun-
try Team dominated the New York State Class A Cross Country Championship
at Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley, New York, with an
overall final race time of 16:32, defeating 8 other seven-person teams
which had qualified for the race via sectional competitions; and
WHEREAS, The course, located at Monroe-Woodbury High School, had been
carefully crafted over the last 10 years with this specific event in
mind, and it delivered a challenging running environment in front of an
enthusiastic crowd; and
WHEREAS, The New York State championship allowed the Liverpool Boys
Varsity Cross Country Team to participate at the Nike Cross Nationals in
Portland, Oregon on December 5, 2015, at which the team finished strong,
placing an impressive 10th overall in the Nation; and
WHEREAS, No team can succeed without hard work and collective talent,
as is the case for the Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross Country Team members
who participated in the State competition which include: Ben Petrella,
Ty Brownlow, Stevie Schulz, Ryan Comstock, Terrell Coleman, Dan Hunt,
and Gabe Albert; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent, and drive to win, displayed by the
Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross Country Team is in great part due to the
efforts of Coach Tracey Vannatta and Assistant Coach Andrew Dionne, who
are both respected mentors for their ability to develop potential into
excellence; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the outstanding members of the
Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross Country Team proved to be a terrific combi-
nation of talent, skill and dedication during the entire season; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and congratulate the Liverpool Boys Varsity Cross Country Team
upon winning the 2015 New York State Class A Cross Country Championship;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned members of the Liverpool Boys Varsity
Cross Country Team, Coach Tracey Vannatta and Assistant Coach Andrew
Dionne.
