LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 15th Anniversary of establish-
ing National Motivation and Inspiration Day

WHEREAS, On January 2, 2016, we celebrated the 15th Anniversary of
National Motivation and Inspiration Day by continuing to ask New Yorkers
and Americans to remember what brought us together after the tragic
events of 9-11-01 and the increased sense of patriotism and personal
accountability; and
WHEREAS, For 15 years, we have called for New Yorkers and Americans to
acknowledge January 2nd as National Motivation and Inspiration Day and
January as Motivation and Inspiration Month, and to establish personal
goals that they choose to accomplish in the coming year; and
WHEREAS, These personal goals will contribute to their personal
success and the betterment of society as a whole, striving not to judge
or persecute others, but rather focus on our own personal development
and help others when and where we can; and
WHEREAS, Motivation and Inspiration are guiding principles of achieve-
ment in all of the greatest human endeavors and National Motivation and
Inspiration Day and National Motivation and Inspiration Month are the
perfect time for people to make a plan for the upcoming year, especially
young adults and school age children as we encourage them to establish
personal goals and become a goal oriented society; and
WHEREAS, The greatest inventions, creations and advancements in human
history have begun with a goal, a plan or an objective, from Thomas
Edison and electricity, to man's journey to the moon and outer space; as
individual citizens look for help or growth, it also begins with a goal,
a plan or an objective that they desire to achieve to have or live a
better life for themselves, their families, their communities, their
state and their country; and
WHEREAS, We acknowledge the efforts of those that are responsible for
the creation of National Motivation and Inspiration Day and National
Motivation Month and the continued pursuit to help people strive to live
more fulfilled lives and contribute to a better society; and
WHEREAS, We would like to urge this Legislative Body to acknowledge
January 2, 2016, as Motivation and Inspiration Day and January of 2016,
as Motivation and Inspiration Month in New York State; and
WHEREAS, Since the beginning of the year is often a period of
reflection, planning, and goal setting, January is the appropriate time
to celebrate Motivation and Inspiration Day and Motivation and Inspira-
tion Month in the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
proclaim January 2, 2016, as Motivation and Inspiration Day and January
of 2016, as Motivation and Inspiration Month in New York State.
