LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring THE FINGER LAKES TIMES upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the 2015 Business of the Year Award
by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize those
illustrious institutions in the State of New York whose purposeful
endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor THE
FINGER LAKES TIMES on the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2015 Business of the Year Award by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce
which was celebrated at its 113th annual dinner at Club 86, Geneva, New
York, on Thursday, January 28th, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Year
Award, the highest honor a Geneva business can receive, is presented
annually to an exceptional business for its many contributions to the
community; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1895 as the GENEVA TIMES, with a long-standing
tradition of excellence, THE FINGER LAKES TIMES reaches more than 28,000
readers in the Geneva area each day, and publishes approximately 3.2
million copies of the paper annually; and
WHEREAS, Owned by the Community Media Group, THE FINGER LAKES TIMES is
well-known for its integrity and commitment to community involvement,
and has made significant contributions to the betterment of civic life;
and
WHEREAS, This esteemed news publication has been the recipient of
numerous awards for outstanding journalism, and is a multiple time
winner of the New York State Associated Press' Newspaper of Distinction
Award; and
WHEREAS, Under the illustrious guidance of Publisher Paul Barrett, THE
FINGER LAKES TIMES will continue to provide its readers with the finest
in local news and information for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, Our journalists provide a tremendous service to citizens
across the State of New York by keeping them informed about current
events; the democracy of our State and Nation is strengthened by a
responsible citizenry which is actively engaged in reading and kept
abreast of news affecting their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor THE FINGER LAKES TIMES upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2015 Business of the Year Award by the Geneva Area
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution suitably engrossed, be trans-
mitted to Paul Barrett, Publisher, THE FINGER LAKES TIMES.
