COMMENDING Keria L. Blue upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the National
Action Network, West Nassau Chapter on March 26,
2017

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Keria L.
Blue upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter to be celebrated at its
Dreams of Greatness Gala on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Westbury Manor in
Westbury, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award is given to individuals who have
demonstrated exemplary work, services, and commitment to the people of
their communities; Keria L. Blue deserves this honor for her
contributions to her neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, The West Nassau Chapter, under the able leadership of
District Chairperson, Pastor Emmanuel Asse, continues the mission of NAN
which fulfills a vital role in moving our Nation forward; and

WHEREAS, An educator whose career spans nearly 23 years, Keria L.
Blue has served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, District Director of
English Language Arts, and has educated thousands of students, on every
level from elementary school to college; and

WHEREAS, Keria L. Blue sits on the Executive Committee of the
Hempstead Branch of the NAACP, as well as the Executive Boards of the
Nostrand Gardens Civic Association, the Delta Minerva Life Development
Center and the Incorporated Village of Hempstead Community Development
Agency; recently, she was confirmed as a Nassau County Commissioner on
Human Rights and immediately became involved in the education tenets of
the Commission; and

WHEREAS, As a passionate advocate for the forgotten and
disenfranchised citizens of Nassau County, Keria L. Blue has partnered
with various organizations around Nassau County and has connected
citizens living with HIV/AIDS to life saving information and resources;
working with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. as well as
the NAACP, she educates these people about their rights, the importance
of exercising them, and the power associated with their votes; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Keria L. Blue upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Keria L. Blue.
