COMMENDING Grace D. Moran, Esq. upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by the
Nassau County Bar Association on May 13, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful
lives and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of
the citizens of their community and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Grace D. Moran upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Nassau County Bar Association at its 118th Annual
Dinner Dance of the Association on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the
Marriott Hotel in Uniondale, Long Island; and

WHEREAS, Grace D. Moran earned her Bachelor of Science degree at
Fordham University; she then received her Juris Doctor from St. John's
University School of Law in 1978; one year later, she was admitted to
the New York State Bar Association; and

WHEREAS, Grace D. Moran began her distinguished career in public
service as the first woman Chief Counsel with the New York Appellate
Division Grievance Committee for the 10th Judicial District; after 22
years of devoted service, she retired from this position to pursue
private practice; and

WHEREAS, In April of 2002, Grace D. Moran joined Moran & Karamouzis,
LLP, where she concentrates in the areas of professional discipline and
commercial litigation; with her extensive knowledge and background, she
has been qualified and testified as an expert witness in legal ethics
and professional discipline on numerous occasions; and

WHEREAS, Well-respected within the legal profession, Grace D. Moran
has lectured extensively on various topics before the American Bar
Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar
Association Academy of Law, the Suffolk County Bar Association Academy
of Law, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the National
Conference of Bar Leaders, and Inns of Court, as well as specialty Bar
Groups; and

WHEREAS, Grace D. Moran has also been a guest lecturer and CLE
instructor at several law schools including Touro College, Hofstra
University, and her alma mater, St. John's; and

WHEREAS, This gifted attorney is the author of "New York's Amended
Code of Professional Responsibility: A Guide to What's New," 29 Hofstra
Law Rev. 230, and has published articles in the Hofstra Law Review and
the Nassau Lawyer; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Grace D. Moran has been actively
involved with numerous legal organizations including the New York State
Bar Association, the Judiciary Committee of the Nassau Bar Association,

the Nassau County Judicial Advisory Council, and the Nassau County Board
of Ethics; and

WHEREAS, Grace D. Moran was a fellow at the New York State Bar
Foundation, and was appointed to the Krausman Committee on Attorney
Discipline, Supreme Court of the State of New York Appellate Division:
Second Judicial Department; and

WHEREAS, Grace D. Moran held the title of President of the Nassau
County Bar Association, and was Director at both the Nassau County
Women's Bar Association, and St. John's University School of Law Alumni
Association; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to the well-being of her community, Grace D.
Moran served as the Director at South Nassau Communities Hospital,
Winthrop University Hospital, and New Island Hospital, as well as the
Winthrop South Nassau University Health System where she also held the
position of Secretary; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and
community service, a period of constructive involvement, Grace D. Moran
has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Grace D. Moran, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Nassau County Bar Association on May 13,
2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Grace D. Moran, Esq.
