CONGRATULATING student-athlete Maclean Crossley
upon the occasion of his winning the 2017 New York
State Public High School Athletic Association Boys
50 yard Freestyle Swimming Title

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concerns, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate student-athlete Maclean Crossley upon the occasion of his
winning the 2017 New York State Public High School Athletic Association
Boys 50 yard Freestyle Swimming Title; and

WHEREAS, Maclean Crossley, a senior at Watertown High School who
will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in the Fall, won the Boys 50
freestyle in 20.38 seconds, at the New York State boys swimming and
diving meet held at Ithaca College on Saturday, March 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, He also placed fifth in the 100 freestyle and competed as a
part of the 200 yard freestyle relay team which placed fifth, for the
Watertown Cyclones, the only Section III team to have swimmers place in
the top ten at this year's meet; and

WHEREAS, Maclean Crossley's perseverance in rising through the ranks
of high school swimmers is a strong indication of his ability to master
difficult tasks; his accomplishments will enable him to emerge as a
leader, fully equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex
society; and

WHEREAS, Maclean Crossley is a credit to his family, his school, his
community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Maclean Crossley upon the occasion of his winning
the 2017 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Boys 50
yard Freestyle Swimming Title; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Maclean Crossley.
