COMMENDING Debra Ann McCoy, RN upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by the
Tri Community and Youth Agency on March 30, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those
individuals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Debra Ann McCoy, RN upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency to be
celebrated at its Hall of Honor Cocktail Party and Dinner on Thursday,
March 30, 2017, at the Woodbury Country Club in Woodbury, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Tri Community and Youth Agency is a private,
not-for-profit community based agency dedicated to supporting the growth
and development of youth and their families in the communities of
Huntington, South Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor; and

WHEREAS, For over three decades, the Tri Community and Youth Agency
has provided a wide variety of educational, recreational, social,
cultural, athletic, counseling and advocacy programs, and worked closely
with businesses, school districts, law enforcement, community groups,
government agencies and other local organizations; and

WHEREAS, For 30 years, Debra Ann McCoy has served as a reliever of
pain, a protector from harm, a healer where there is illness, and a
nurturer of mind, body and spirit; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ann McCoy has always demonstrated an innate ability
to integrate both her extensive nursing knowledge and her wisdom of
numerous years of experience into her daily practice; each day, she
exudes a sense of caring which makes her patients and their families
feel as though they are being cared for by an old friend; and

WHEREAS, A quiet, yet dynamic leader, Debra Ann McCoy truly leads by
example; she graciously serves as a mentor to less experienced nurses,
exemplifying what high quality care looks like while making them feel
valued and safe; her comforting presence on the unit brings a sense of
calm and positivity even during the most challenging times; and

WHEREAS, Always eager to learn and advance her career, Debra Ann
McCoy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the Long
Island University CW Post on January 20, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ann McCoy has been a dedicated and valued member of
her community for many years; she is a respected member of the National
Council of Negro Women, and was recently inducted and ordained as an
Elder at the Central Presbyterian Church in Huntington, New York; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Debra Ann McCoy has served her
patients with compassion and care; she has contributed to the
maintenance and enhancement of the highest professional standards;
sharing with others her knowledge and expertise, as well as her
dedication and commitment to quality health care; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Debra Ann McCoy, RN upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Debra Ann McCoy, RN.
