COMMENDING Nicholas Ciappetta, JD upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Tri Community and Youth Agency on March 30,
2017
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Nicholas Ciappetta, JD upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency to be
celebrated at its Hall of Honor Cocktail Party and Dinner on Thursday,
March 30, 2017, at the Woodbury Country Club in Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Tri Community and Youth Agency is a private,
not-for-profit community based agency dedicated to supporting the growth
and development of youth and their families in the communities of
Huntington, South Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor; and
WHEREAS, For over three decades, the Tri Community and Youth Agency
has provided a wide variety of educational, recreational, social,
cultural, athletic, counseling and advocacy programs, and worked closely
with businesses, school districts, law enforcement, community groups,
government agencies and other local organizations; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong member of the South Huntington community,
Nicholas Ciappetta graduated with honors from Walt Whitman High School;
after graduating from Vassar College, he earned his Doctorate of
Jurisprudence from Hofstra Law School in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Nicholas Ciappetta serves as an attorney with
the New York City Law Department, where he represents the City of New
York, mayoral agencies, and city officials matters in state and federal
court; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Nicholas Ciappetta has successfully
defended the city in a wide range of cases; in 2014, he was the
recipient of the Edith Spivak Special Recognition Award for his
outstanding achievements, as well as his overall enthusiasm and superior
performance; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to supporting the leaders of tomorrow, Nicholas
Ciappetta became a member of the South Huntington School District's
Board of Education in 2004; through the years, he has served in various
capacities including Vice President, and Trustee; in this role, he
passionately believed in the District's mission and truly believed in
the potential of all the students, parents, and staff; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas Ciappetta's tireless work ethic and trademark
attention to detail qualified him to become the Chairperson of the
District's Facilities and Planning Committee; in this position, he has
been instrumental in renovating and modernizing South Huntington's
buildings and grounds; and
WHEREAS, A true public servant, Nicholas Ciappetta is also a member
on the South Huntington Educational Foundation Board of Directors; in
this post, he has orchestrated fundraisers, worked at various events,
and has encouraged students to realize their fullest potential and
achieve success; in addition, he represents the district as The
Executive Committee Member for the Nassau-Suffolk School Board
Association; and
WHEREAS, Nicholas Ciappetta has clearly had an enduring impact on
the youth of South Huntington; through his tireless efforts, he always
made the needs and concerns of his students his top priority; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Nicholas Ciappetta, JD upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nicholas Ciappetta, JD.
