HONORING Lon Tytell upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Warwick
Lions Club on March 25, 2017
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lon Tytell
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Warwick Lions Club, to be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the
Warwick Town Senior Citizen Center; and
WHEREAS, Lon Tytell is bestowed this auspicious honor in recognition
of his steadfast and unwavering dedication to the Town of Warwick, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Lon Tytell has always given of himself
unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, An elementary school teacher for 35 years, Lon Tytell
served on the Warwick Valley Teachers Association Scholarship Committee
for three decades; throughout his illustrious career in education, he
also served as a member of the Elementary Language Arts Committee and as
a 4th and 2nd grade representative; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Lon Tytell valiantly served his country as a
member of the United States Army Reserves for 23 years, retiring in the
esteemed position of Sergeant First Class; and
WHEREAS, An active member of the Warwick Jaycees, Lon Tytell served
in several capacities including as President, District Director,
Regional Director, Institutional Director and Vice President of the New
York State Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his more than 40 years with this vital
organization, Lon Tytell chaired countless initiatives including the
Bicycle Program, Hot Shot Basketball Project, the Shopping Party for
Children in Need, the Cotton Candy Project, Easter Egg Hunt and the
Holiday Food Basket; he was also recognized as one of three Outstanding
District Directors of the Year in all of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Lon Tytell joined the Warwick Lions Club in 1978, during
which time he served on its Board of Directors for 20 years, and as a
representative to the committee that started the Annual Senior Citizen
Picnic in the Town of Warwick; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Warwick Lions Club, Lon Tytell was
instrumental in the success of numerous programs including, the
Ultimania Basketball Project, the Lions Bunny Project, the Labor Day
Race, and the ringing of the bell for the Salvation Army; in addition,
he served as the organization's Lion Tamer, Secretary, Vice President
and President; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lon Tytell has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Rosita, who feels
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lon Tytell has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Lon Tytell, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lon Tytell upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Warwick Lions Club on March 25, 2017; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lon Tytell.
