HONORING Irene Berner upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2017 New Paltz
Alumna of the Year Award and her induction into its
School of Business Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Irene Berner upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2017 New Paltz Alumna of the Year Award and her induction into its
School of Business Hall of Fame, to be celebrated with an Induction
Ceremony on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie,
New York; and

WHEREAS, The SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame was
established in 2001 to recognize the achievements of students, faculty,
alumni and community members who have made significant contributions to
their respective business professions and to the educational activities
at the school; and

WHEREAS, A 2011 SUNY New Paltz graduate, Irene Berner is the founder
of Berner Financial Services, a New Paltz-based wealth management
services company; it allows her the opportunity to apply her passion for
educating and empowering women to take control of their financial lives;
and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, Irene Berner is actively
involved with numerous organizations including regional Chambers of
Commerce, the New Paltz Rotary Club and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail
Association; she is still connected to SUNY New Paltz as a member of the
Business Advisory Council and a Judge of the annual Business Plan
Contest; and

WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Irene Berner has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to both her community
and profession and consequently has been selected for this most
prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Irene Berner has displayed
throughout her career; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Irene Berner upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2017 New Paltz Alumna of the Year Award and her induction into its
School of Business Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Irene Berner.
