HONORING Laurence Gottlieb upon the occasion of
his designation as a 2017 SUNY New Paltz School of
Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business Person of
the Year
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Laurence Gottlieb upon the occasion of his designation as a 2017 SUNY
New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business Person of
the Year, to be celebrated with an Induction Ceremony on Wednesday,
April 19, 2017, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, The SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame was
established in 2001 to recognize the achievements of students, faculty,
alumni and community members who have made significant contributions to
their respective business professions and to the educational activities
at the school; and
WHEREAS, Laurence Gottlieb is both the President and CEO of the
Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (HVEDC), the leading
economic development organization for the Hudson Valley, New York
region; comprised of seven unique counties Dutchess, Orange, Putnam,
Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester, each contributing to the
region's economic strength and exceptional quality of life; and
WHEREAS, With more than 25 years of experience as a business advisor
working with executives and government leaders, he has applied his
knowledge wholeheartedly to the HVEDC's mission of supporting businesses
in a variety of sectors, including technology, food and beverage,
healthcare and tourism; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Laurence Gottlieb has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community
and profession and consequently has been selected for this most
prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Laurence Gottlieb has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Laurence Gottlieb upon the occasion of his designation as a 2017
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business
Person of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Laurence Gottleib.
