COMMENDING Adib C. Kassis upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by St. Nicholas
Home, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire
State with their strong contributions to the community and model
citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Adib C. Kassis upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by St. Nicholas Home, Inc. to be celebrated at its Annual
Gala on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at The Vanderbilt in Staten Island,
New York; and

WHEREAS, A graduate from St. Joseph's University in Lebanon, Adib C.
Kassis has been a vital part of the Lebanese community in the United
States for many years; and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, Adib C. Kassis has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades such as the 1997 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the 1997 Cross
of Jerusalem by Patriarch Hakim, the 2004 Lebanon Presidential Order of
the Cedars, the 2014 Distinguished Service Award by the City of Los
Angeles, and the 1997 St. Gregory the Great Commander title, awarded by
His Holiness Pope John Paul II, as well as many more; and

WHEREAS, Adib C. Kassis has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Adib C. Kassis has served on
several Board of Directors of various organizations including the St.
Nicholas Home in New York, the Rene Moawad Foundation in Washington,
D.C., the American Arab National Museum in Michigan, and the National
Ethic Coalition, which sponsors the Ellis Island Medal of Honor; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Adib C. Kassis has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Adib C. Kassis has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Adib C. Kassis upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by St. Nicholas Home, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Adib C. Kassis.
