HONORING Bonnie Sciuk upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Yellow Rose Award by
the Zonta Club of Grand Island
WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bonnie Sciuk upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island, New York,
celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2017; and
WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and
colorful threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and
continue to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and
WHEREAS, The Zonta Club, an international organization of
professional women who work to advance the status of women through
service and advocacy, sets aside March 8th of each year as Yellow Rose
Day, to honor the accomplishments of women worldwide; the Zonta Club of
Grand Island takes this opportunity to honor women whose courage,
determination and dedication have made a difference in the lives of
others within the community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, As owner and founder of Brite Ideas Sales and Marketing,
Bonnie Sciuk has been a vital part of the industry for over 36 years as
a full-service sales promotion and advertising specialty agency; she
provides creative promotional products, advertising specialty solutions,
corporate gift ideas, and executive and business gifts; it holds the
minority status as a Women Business Enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, Bonnie Sciuk has received
numerous awards and accolades including the 1992 Citizen of the Year,
for Brite Ideas Sales and Marketing and 2009 Citizen of the Year as
Business Person; in 2009, she was also selected as one of the Woman's
History Month recipients by the New York State Senate in the field of
public service; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bonnie Sciuk is active in her church and has
been a member of the town's Economic Development Advisory Board and has
served on the Board of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce; she also
served as President of the Advertising Women of Buffalo, a Director of
Small Business for the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and the first
Chairman of the Relay For Life on Grand Island; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bonnie Sciuk upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Yellow Rose Award by the Zonta Club of Grand Island; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bonnie Sciuk.
