Senate Resolution No. 1249

COMMENDING Franca Conti upon the occasion of her
retirement after many years of dedicated service to
P.S. 217 Colonel David Marcus School in Brooklyn,
New York

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have
been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Franca Conti upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of dedicated service to P.S. 217 Colonel David Marcus School in
Brooklyn, New York; this auspicious occasion was celebrated at a
Retirement Party on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Russo's on the Bay in
Howard Beach, New York; and

WHEREAS, For many years, Franca Conti held the title of Principal of
P.S. 217; under her luminous leadership, the school provided the
highest quality education for every student, English Language Learner,
special education and high achieving student, in a stimulating and
challenging learning environment; and

WHEREAS, Franca Conti and her dedicated staff strived to develop all
of their students into responsible and capable citizens; they also
helped children from all cultural backgrounds become lifelong learners
who will be productive, and respectable citizens in a changing global
society; and

WHEREAS, Franca Conti's loyalty to P.S. 217 and to her staff was
truly admirable; all who have had the privilege to work with her through
the years have known her to be an honest and hard-working Principal who
always made the needs and concerns of her students her top priority; and

WHEREAS, The driving force behind Franca Conti's commitment to
public education was her belief that all children have the potential to
do great things if given the opportunity; she prided herself on creating
an educational environment where students come first and expectations
are high; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Franca Conti upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of dedicated service to P.S. 217 Colonel David Marcus School, and
to wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Franca Conti.
