HONORING Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi for
special recognition at the 19th AAWIC Film Festival
on March 23, 2017

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi has given not only of
her time and energies but also of her competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently has been designated for special recognition;
and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Queen
Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi for special recognition at the 19th AAWIC
Film Festival to be celebrated on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Broad
Street Ballroom, in Manhattan, New York; and

WHEREAS, Her Royal Highness, Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi,
Yeyelua of Ile-Ife has demonstrated her passion and commitment to both
girls and women empowerment; since her historical wedding to His
Imperial Majesty, King Babatude Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife,
she has dedicated her time to improving the lives of women and children
from impoverished backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi has been called upon
to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Partnering with numerous charities and foundations across
Nigeria, Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi has used her high profile
and position to raise awareness on important issues such as poverty,
education and women's empowerment; and

WHEREAS, With the partnership of her husband, Queen Wuraola Zynab,
Otiti, Ogunwusi has launched several Humanitarian and Philanthropic
initiatives in a quest for peace and unity across Africa; and

WHEREAS, African-American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) Film Festival was
created in 1997 to highlight the work of women filmmakers across the
globe and to provide a platform to showcase their dynamic talents;
additionally, they discuss matters which are currently affecting women
in media on a global level and find sustainable solutions to the
challenges they face; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi
has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti,
Ogunwusi has displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi for special recognition at
the 19th AAWIC Film Festival on March 23, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Queen Wuraola Zynab, Otiti, Ogunwusi.
