COMMENDING Slattery's Bar & Grill upon the
occasion of celebrating 39 years of service to the
people of Florida, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
illustrious establishments which have positively impacted and
substantially contributed to the vitality of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Slattery's Bar & Grill upon the occasion of celebrating 39 years
of service to the people of Florida, New York; on Wednesday, March 22,
2017, the Bar & Grill closed its doors for the last time; and
WHEREAS, On that day, Slattery's Bar & Grill opened just after 10
a.m.; card lovers played their daily pinochle game, and old friends
traded jokes and talked about the good times at their home away from
home; and
WHEREAS, Established in the 1940s, Brian Slattery, a longtime
village trustee, took it over in 1978; for years he served food and
draft beer to his loyal patrons; and
WHEREAS, In his much deserved retirement, Brian Slattery plans on
splitting his time between his hometown and New Port Richey, Florida;
and
WHEREAS, For almost four decades, Slattery's Bar & Grill has stood
as a beloved establishment which has provided a friendly, open
environment for patrons to collectively gather and share their thoughts,
ideas and life experiences; owner, Brian Slattery, truly made everyone
who walked through his door feel like family; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Slattery's Bar & Grill exert a
strong, positive influence on the communities they serve and are a
crucial element in the economy of New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Slattery's Bar & Grill upon the occasion of celebrating 39 years
of service to the people of Florida, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brian Slattery, Owner, Slattery's Bar & Grill.
