CONGRATULATING Kinsey Henry upon the occasion of
winning two silver medals and a bronze medal in the
2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay just tribute to those citizens who embody the true American spirit,
demonstrating personal courage and conviction in pursuit of athletic
achievement without regard to physical limitation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Kinsey Henry upon the occasion of winning two silver medals
and a bronze medal in the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games; and
WHEREAS, More than 2,700 Special Olympians are taking part in the
World Winter Games from 107 nations; Kinsey Henry was the only student
from Tompkins County to compete in the international event; and
WHEREAS, Kinsey Henry, a member of the Special Olympics United
States National Snowshoe Team, competed in the 2017 Special Olympic
World Winter Games in Ramsau, Austria; and
WHEREAS, Seventeen-year-old Kinsey Henry won silver medals in the
100-meter and 200-meter relay races, and a bronze medal in the
4x100-meter relay race; and
WHEREAS, She has participated in the Special Olympics Snow Shoe
program for many years, and has participated in New York State games for
the past three years, winning several gold medals; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
applaud the achievements of its citizens who would elect to challenge
life with an uncommon spirit and determination, demonstrating by example
and purposeful action that commitment to personal goals is the
wellspring of self-fulfillment and triumph; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kinsey Henry upon the occasion of winning two silver medals
and a bronze medal in the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games, and
to wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kinsey Henry.
