COMMENDING Jeremy R. Del Rio, Esq. upon the
occasion of his designation as Grand Marshal of the
65th Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade on May
21, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
individuals of true purpose and worthy accomplishment who work
diligently to preserve and celebrate their rich cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Jeremy R. Del Rio, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as
Grand Marshal of the 65th Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade on
Sunday, May 21, 2017; and
WHEREAS, In acknowledgment of this most prestigious appointment,
Jeremy R. Del Rio, a fourth generation Norwegian, will have the honor of
leading the 65th Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade down 5th
Avenue in Bay Ridge, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy R. Del Rio earned both his bachelor's degree with
honors and his Juris Doctor degree from New York University; he
furthered his education by obtaining certificates in non-profit
management and leadership from Columbia University's Graduate School of
Business and the DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Jeremy R. Del Rio is the co-founder and leader
of Thrive Collective, a non-profit organization which creates hope and
opportunity through arts and mentoring in public schools; he also
teaches youth and community development at Alliance and Fuller
seminaries, and connects, trains, and mentors youth workers nationally;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to his leadership role at Thrive Collective,
Jeremy R. Del Rio has consulted with many businesses and non-profit
organizations on various leadership and strategy initiatives; and
WHEREAS, From 1996-2006, Jeremy R. Del Rio held the position of
founder and Director of Generation Xcel, a holistic youth center in
Manhattan; he then served as the founding Youth Pastor at Abounding
Grace Ministries from 1994-2004; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy R. Del Rio also worked as a corporate attorney at
Dewey Ballantine in New York City before resigning after 9/11 to lead
relief work at Ground Zero; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy R. Del Rio has shared his vast knowledge and wisdom
by contributing to six books including Deep Justice in a Broken World
and The Justice Project, and his articles have appeared in dozens of
publications; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Diana, and their
two sons, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Grand Marshal of the 65th Annual
Norwegian Constitution Day Parade, Jeremy R. Del Rio truly embodies the
spirit and the cherished ideals and values of Norwegian-Americans of
this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jeremy R. Del Rio, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as
Grand Marshal of the 65th Annual Norwegian Constitution Day Parade on
May 21, 2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jeremy R. Del Rio, Esq.
