COMMENDING Cleaning for a Reason upon the occasion
of celebrating its 11th Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of those concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Cleaning for a Reason upon the occasion of celebrating its 11th
Anniversary of valuable service to Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Created by Debbie Sardone, Cleaning for a Reason is a
non-profit foundation which provides free professional house cleaning to
women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer; this vital
organization matches cancer patients with cleaning companies who are
willing to donate their time and services; and
WHEREAS, In 2017, an estimated 850,000 women in the United States
will be diagnosed with new cases of cancer; a simple house cleaning can
be an invaluable service to a cancer patient, allowing them to focus on
their health, while the Foundation focuses on their house work; and
WHEREAS, Today, Cleaning for a Reason is comprised of more than
1,200 volunteer cleaning companies, and continues to grow each year;
through their extraordinary services, these companies improve the lives
of women stricken with cancer who do not have the resources to hire an
outside service to clean during a difficult time; and
WHEREAS, Since 2006, Cleaning for a Reason and their partner maid
services have volunteered their time and energy to clean for over 24,000
women throughout the United States and Canada; and
WHEREAS, Sherry Lee Towne, a resident of Neversink, New York, is one
of these generous partners, donating her cleaning services once a month
to a female cancer patient in her community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cleaning for a Reason upon the occasion of celebrating its 11th
Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lynn Frankenfield, Executive Director, Cleaning for a
Reason, and Sherry Lee Towne.
