Senate Resolution No. 1364

COMMEMORATING the 70th Anniversary of the American
Legion George Smith Post No. 1607 on June 3, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
patriotic organizations and individuals who devote themselves to the
welfare of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the American Legion George Smith
Post No. 1607, to be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Town
of Minisink Museum, Westtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, The American Legion is the nation's largest and most
powerful organization of United States wartime veterans and their
families; this vital organization continues to deliver substantial
improvements for veterans, families and communities; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 70 year history, the American Legion
George Smith Post No. 1607 has demonstrated continuous service to the
residents and communities which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the American Legion George Smith Post No.
1607 is in direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Today, the American Legion George Smith Post No. 1607
continues its dedication to fostering the traditions of patriotism,
excellence, and commitment which have made our nation strong; it is the
custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the significance of their
contributions and to note their worthy endeavors which have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the American Legion George Smith
Post No. 1607, and to commend its members, past and present, on behalf
of a grateful community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the American Legion George Smith Post No. 1607.
