CONGRATULATING the Hastings High School Boys
Soccer Team and Head Coach Frederick
Sanhop upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State Public High School Athletic Association Class
B Boys Soccer Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Hastings High School Boys Soccer Team and Head Coach Frederick Sanhop
upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Public High School
Athletic Association Class B Boys Soccer Championship; to the praise and
applause of their excited fans, the Yellow Jackets defeated West Hill
High School in a 3-1 victory to capture their first State title at
Faller Field in Middletown High School on Sunday, November 13, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Twenty minutes into the game, the Yellow Jackets scored
their first goal; four minutes later, they added their second, and kept
the momentum going, scoring their third and final goal in the second
half; the Team used their incredible passing game to dominate time of
possession; their opponent did not get a shot on goal until the 46th
minute of play; and
WHEREAS, In addition to winning their first New York State
Championship, the Hastings High School Boys Soccer Team were the
recipients of the 2016 Fall Scholar Athletic Team Champion Award by the
New York State Public High School Athletic Association; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of green and old gold,
Athletic Director Adam Lodewick, family, friends, and the
community-at-large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Yellow
Jackets throughout their journey as they ended their season with an
impressive 21-1-1 overall record; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as soccer, which demands athletic prowess,
speed and agility, Head Coach Frederick Sanhop and Assistant Coach
Richard Kavy worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Frederick Sanhop and all of the outstanding
athletes on the Hastings High School Boys Soccer Team have clearly
utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Hastings High School Boys Soccer Team:
Michael Limitone, Eddie Driver, Nate Constatine, Sasha Fuller, Lewis
Sprague, Alex Bourgeois, Ian Charles, Willem Bos, Oscar Pereira, Andrea
Russo, Jackson Silverstein, Piersol Mininger, Diego Rodriquez, Michael
Ratskin, Reid Koken, Ahmed Nasser, Julian Jacobs, Daymon Theodule, Nick
Macaluso, Ricardo Zarama, and Jonah Griff; Head Coach Frederick Sanhop;
Assistant Coach Richard Kavy; and Athletic Director Adam Lodewick upon
the occasion of capturing the New York State Public High School Athletic
Association Class B Boys Soccer Championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Hastings High School Boys Soccer Team,
Head Coach Frederick Sanhop, Assistant Coach Richard Kavy, and Athletic
Director Adam Lodewick.
