HONORING Laura Hull upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition in conjunction
with the observance of National Library Workers Day
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions and
individuals whose purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the
needs of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Laura Hull upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
in conjunction with the observance of National Library Workers Day, to
be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Mineola, New York; and
WHEREAS, National Library Workers Day (NLWD) is a day for library
staff, users, administrators and friends groups to recognize the
valuable contributions made by all library workers; and
WHEREAS, On January 25, 2003, a resolution was proposed to recognize
the hard work, dedication, and expertise of library support staff and
librarians on the Tuesday of National Library Week, and to designate
this day as National Library Workers Day; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong library lover, Laura Hull has sat on the Board
of The Friends of the Manhasset Public Library for eight years, the past
three as its President; she is committed to working closely with the
library to bring quality programming and resources to the Manhasset
community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Library, Laura Hull has
been an active member of the Manhasset Women's Coalition Against Breast
Cancer, where she has just stepped down after five years on the
Executive Board; and
WHEREAS, Laura Hull has also worked closely with the St. Mary's
parish youth group by accompanying them on mission trips and organizing
fundraisers in the community; she spent 13 years co-leading a Girl Scout
troop, and was very active with the School Community Association (SCA)
while her children were of school age; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Brian, and their
three children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Manhasset Public Library is in direct
correlation to the efforts of Laura Hull, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the library and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Laura Hull; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Laura Hull upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition in conjunction with the observance of National Library
Workers Day; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Laura Hull.
