COMMENDING outgoing President Lyn Derway upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the New York State Association of School Business
Officials

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational leaders, whose edification and achievements have
been instrumental in developing characters and academic excellence in
the young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend outgoing President Lyn Derway upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the New York State Association of
School Business Officials to be celebrated at its Education Summit and
Expo from June 4-7, 2017 in Lake Placid, New York; and

WHEREAS, Lyn Derway currently serves as an Assistant Superintendent
for Business at Brunswick Central School District in Rensselaer County,
New York; previously she served in the same role at Plattsburgh City
School District and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District and
was the Business Administrator at Lake George Central School District;
and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Plattsburgh State University as a returning
adult, Lyn Derway received three degrees including a Certificate of
Advanced Study in Educational Administration; and

WHEREAS, As President of the Board of Directors for New York State
Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO), Lyn Derway rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service, earning the admiration,
esteem and affection of her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Since 2006, Lyn Derway has been a dedicated member of
NYSASBO; she serves on the Professional Development Committee,
contributing to the planning of additional professional development
opportunities for members; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Lyn Derway serves as both a mentor and a
liaison to the Capital Chapter; she was President of the Adirondack
Chapter for five years and has been a webinar and workshop presenter for
NYSASBO; she also has written several articles for The Reporter; and

WHEREAS, In her capacity as President of NYSASBO, Lyn Derway served
with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of
duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in her official
acts; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend outgoing President Lyn Derway upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the New York State Association of
School Business Officials; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lyn Derway.
