HONORING Mike Durr upon the occasion of his
induction into the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes and coaches who have distinguished themselves
through their exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success
and the highest level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mike Durr upon the occasion of his induction into the Greater Utica
Sports Hall of Fame, to be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at
Daniele's Banquet Facility, New Hartford, New York; and

WHEREAS, Entering the Hall of Fame in the Coach or Manager category,
Mike Durr, a member of the Notre Dame High School Brother More, CFX Hall
of Fame, was a standout high school hoopster who parlayed his skills on
the court to the sideline; and

WHEREAS, After a collegiate career that included a stint with the
Utica College Pioneers, Mike Durr began coaching at St. Peter's
Elementary School in 1982; after two seasons, he moved on to become the
assistant Coach at Notre Dame High School, a position he held for seven
seasons; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Mike Durr, the Jugglers
captured three Tri-Valley League Championships and Section III Class C
and Regional titles; and

WHEREAS, From 1992 to 1994, Mike Durr led the varsity basketball
team at Poland Central School before returning to Notre Dame in 1994;
for the next 21 seasons, he led his teams to more than 300 victories
including several Tri-Valley League Championships, the NYSPHAA Class C
State Finals in both 1998-99 and 1999-2000, the Section III Class B-2
Championships in 2001-02 and 2002-03, and the Section III Class A
Championship in 2005-06; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all members of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mike Durr upon the occasion of his induction into the Greater
Utica Sports Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mike Durr.
