MOURNING the death of Margaret Y. Tremper, Town
Clerk, distinguished citizen and devoted member of
her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Y. "Peggy" Tremper of Shawangunk, New York, died
on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the age of 90; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Tremper was born on September 1, 1926 in Brooklyn,
New York to the late William and Margaret Kelly Yarwood; and

WHEREAS, For 38 years, Peggy Tremper held the distinguished position
of Shawangunk Town Clerk; prior to that, she served as Deputy Town Clerk
for eight years; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Tremper distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and

WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her
community, Peggy Tremper was named the 1996 New York State Town Clerk of
the Year; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Tremper's commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Peggy Tremper was a member of
the Walker Valley Catholic Society, G. Paul Betteinger Post, American
Legion Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Pine Bush Area Library
Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Tremper, one son,
Charles Tremper, two brothers, William and John Yarwood, and sister,
Catherine Boxberger, Peggy Tremper is survived by her three sons, James,
Martin (Victoria), Phillip (Kimberly); 10 grandchildren, Martin, James,
Anneliese, Stella, Christopher, Amelia, Ryan, Jared, Ariene and Steven;
and three great-grandchildren, Viviana, Violette and Riley; as well as
one sister, Patricia Russak; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Peggy Tremper leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Margaret Y. Tremper, Town Clerk, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Margaret Y. Tremper.
