COMMENDING Habitat for Humanity Buffalo upon the
occasion of building its 300th house

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those organizations and individuals within our
midst who have made significant contributions to the quality of life
therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary organizations it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Habitat
for Humanity Buffalo upon the occasion of building its 300th house to be
celebrated at a Ceremony on Monday, April 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, During this auspicious occasion, Habitat for Humanity's
founder, Ron Talboys and Executive Director, Teresa Bianchi will
dedicate the home to its partner of 25 years, Valu Homes Center, who has
contributed significant funds to numerous projects; and

WHEREAS, As one of 1,500 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity
International, Habitat for Humanity Buffalo is a nonprofit organization
working to bring generous donors and hardworking volunteers together
with qualified, working families; the result of their tireless efforts
are dramatic, positive differences in the lives of family members and in
neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity was formed around five core
principles: demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ, focus on shelter,
advocate for affordable housing, promote dignity and hope, and support
sustainable and transformational development; this illustrious
organization strives to ensure everyone in the world has a decent place
to live; and

WHEREAS, Partnering with people in the community, Habitat for
Humanity Buffalo helps build houses on the East, West, North and South
sides of Buffalo and the City of Lackawanna; and

WHEREAS, Through the generous support of volunteers, sponsors, and
partners, Habitat for Humanity Homeowners achieve the strength,
stability and independence they need to build a better life for
themselves and their families; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which unselfishly devote their energy, talents and
thoughtful care on behalf of improving the quality and dignity of life
in the community, are worthy and due full praise and recognition for
their noble and dedicated efforts; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Habitat for Humanity Buffalo upon the occasion of building its
300th house; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
given to Teresa Bianchi, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity
Buffalo.
