Senate Resolution No. 1733

COMMENDING Andrew Taylor upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Youth Award by the
Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Andrew Taylor upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Youth Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated
at its Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Colonie
Golf and Country Club in Colonie, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1957, the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce
works on a local and regional level to advance economic development and
foster a positive business environment; it offers resources for
residents, business, recreation and relocation in Bethlehem and the
surrounding region; and
WHEREAS, The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce's Youth Award recognizes
young residents who have contributed to the region either through
business or volunteer endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Andrew Taylor, a Delmar resident and senior at Bethlehem
Central High School, is a driven student and vital part of his
community; he is a member of the National Society of High School
Scholars and has been accepted to Penn State to study criminology in the
fall of 2017; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional athlete, Andrew Taylor plays volleyball on
the Bethlehem Central High's Varsity Team as well as club volleyball
with Sporting Albany Volleyball Club, where he serves as a down referee
and scorekeeper; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Andrew Taylor has been a
participant of the Elsmere Fire Company's Youth program as a Fire
Explorer; in 2016, he transitioned to Firefighter, responding to 53 fire
calls and participating in over 160 hours of training and community
service; additionally, he presented a brief to other Fire Explorers on
the command system, and remains CPR/AED and First Aid Certified; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Andrew Taylor holds a part-time job at a local
business, and has received Most Improved Employee recognition for his
committed and dependable work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Andrew Taylor has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend young
individuals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and
commitment toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves and
acting as role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and
young people; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Andrew Taylor upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Youth Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Andrew Taylor.
