Senate Resolution No. 1756

COMMENDING the US-Africa Children's Fellowship
upon the occasion of hosting its One Can Make a
Difference Award Reception, and paying tribute to
this year's honorees on May 1, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
enduring organizations which devote their purposeful energies to
improving the quality and dignity of life of those they serve, to
preserving their heritage, and to fostering pride among them; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the US-Africa Children's Fellowship upon the occasion of hosting
its One Can Make a Difference Award Reception, and to pay tribute to
this year's honorees on Monday, May 1, 2017, at Penguin Random House in
New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, The US-Africa Children's Fellowship (USACF) is dedicated to
improving education for young people in Africa; more than 250,000
children have benefitted from this vital organization; and
WHEREAS, As of April 2013, USACF has sent twenty-three 40-foot
shipping containers to schools in Zimbabwe, Ghana, Tanzania, South
Africa, and Botswana; each container is filled with library books,
textbooks, school supplies, sports equipment, toys, and other needed
materials; and
WHEREAS, This year's honorees, Romeo Enriquez and Gustavo Szulansky,
are receiving this prestigious award for their long time commitment to
helping the children of Africa; and
WHEREAS, Romeo Enriquez is the Senior Production Manager of Knopf
Doubleday Publishing Group; and
WHEREAS, Gustavo Szulansky is both the Founder and President of
Super Soccer Stars; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the US-Africa Children's Fellowship upon the occasion of hosting
its One Can Make a Difference Award Reception, and to pay tribute to
this year's honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Romeo Enriquez, Gustavo Szulansky and the US-Africa
Children's Fellowship.
