HONORING Dr. Lauren S. Roman upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of a Young
Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Lauren S. Roman upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
a Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County Democrat; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lauren S. Roman was selected for this esteemed honor in
recognition of her hard work, ambition, and creativity, as well as for
her profound impact in and around the community of Sullivan County; and

WHEREAS, Raised in Sullivan County, Dr. Lauren S. Roman serves as a
Board Certified Family Medical Physician and the Director of Primary
Care for the Catskill Regional Medical Group of the Greater Hudson
Valley Health System Medical Group; and

WHEREAS, Lauren S. Roman graduated from Delaware Valley Central
School in 1997, before receiving a degree in Nutritional Sciences from
Cornell University in 2001; she went on to the University at Buffalo
School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences where she graduated in 2005;
and

WHEREAS, After medical school, Dr. Lauren S. Roman entered the
United States Army and completed her internship and residency at the
Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood before serving at Fort
Bragg in North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lauren S. Roman was then deployed as an individual
augmentee attached to a Field Artillery Unit as the Battalion Physician
from Fort Bliss, Texas to Iraq, where she completed a tour of combat;
she returned stateside in 2011 to complete her tour of active duty at
Fort Drum, New York; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of her military service, Dr. Lauren S.
Roman became the Chief Medical Officer for River Hospital in Alexandria
Bay, New York, where she also practiced Family Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lauren S. Roman is currently a member of the American
Academy of Family Physicians and the American Association for Physician
Leadership; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband, who has shown her
love and support and rejoices in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a

long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Lauren S. Roman upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the Sullivan County
Democrat; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Lauren S. Roman.
