HONORING the Gallupville Fire Department upon the
occasion of its designation as 2017 Grand Marshal of
the Schoharie Memorial Day Parade

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those distinguished individuals and organizations who
devote their time and energies to the service of their community and
profession, participating in civic affairs and enhancing the character
and quality of life for all citizens; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
the Gallupville Fire Department upon the occasion of its designation as
2017 Grand Marshal of the Schoharie Memorial Day Parade, to be
celebrated on Thursday, May 25, 2017, in Schoharie, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Gallupville Fire Department is being named Grand
Marshal of the Schoharie Memorial Day Parade in recognition of its
outstanding work in the community and its contributions to the fabric of
American life; and

WHEREAS, This year, the Gallupville Fire Department is celebrating
its 75th year of dedication to the hamlet of Gallupville, New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1942, the Gallupville Fire Department
provides fire protection and BLS Emergency Medical First Response to the
residents in the Town of Wright, Village of Gallupville and surrounding
areas; and

WHEREAS, In addition to giving mutual aid to local departments in
Schoharie County, the Gallupville Fire Department assists the bordering
counties of Schenectady, New York, and Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Fire departments are an integral part of community
protection services in every locality of our State; during the past 75
years, the courageous and devoted firefighters of the Gallupville Fire
Department have valiantly responded to all types of fire emergencies and
have won the praise and respect of the community which they serve; and

WHEREAS, The brave firefighters of Gallupville Fire Department are
prepared to risk their lives every day to help save the lives of others
and to protect homes and property from the destruction caused by fire;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the quality of life in their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high
standards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Gallupville Fire Department upon the occasion of its

designation as 2017 Grand Marshal of the Schoharie Memorial Day Parade;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Gallupville Fire Department.
