MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
June 23, 2017, as Public Service Day in the State of
New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official days that are set aside to recognize the valuable contributions
of public servants who work enhances the lives of citizens of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 23, 2017, as
Public Service Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Public Service Day; and
WHEREAS, The United Nations Public Service Day celebrates the value
and virtue of public service to the community, highlights the
contribution of public service in the development process, recognizes
the work of public servants, and encourages young people to pursue
careers in the public sector; and
WHEREAS, Since the first Awards Ceremony in 2003, the United Nations
has received an increasing number of submissions from all around the
world; and
WHEREAS, A high-level panel discussion on "Leaving No One Behind:
Innovative Institutional Approaches and Public Service Delivery for
celebrating the 2017 United Nations Public Service Day" is being held at
UN Headquarters in New York on June 23, 2017; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim June 23, 2017, as
Public Service Day in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
