MOURNING the untimely death of Staff Sergeant
Alexandria Mae Gleason-Morrow, a native of
Dansville, New York, and paying tribute to her
courageous actions as a member of the United States
Air Force
WHEREAS, The courage and bravery of our military personnel ensure
our great Nation's continued role as a leader in the world, embodying
the ideals of democracy and acting as a defender of liberty for all
people; and
WHEREAS, New Yorkers must never forget the courage with which our
Nation's brave men and women serve our country, and must recognize that
no greater debt is owed than to those who give their lives for their
beloved Nation; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably, deserve a special salute
from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest sadness and regret that this
Legislative Body mourns the untimely death of Staff Sergeant Alexandria
Mae Gleason-Morrow, a native of Dansville, Livingston County, New York,
and pays tribute to her courageous actions as a member of the United
States Air Force; and
WHEREAS, Alexandria Mae Gleason-Morrow was born on November 4, 1991;
she attended Dansville Central Schools, graduating as a member of the
Class of 2009; she was remembered by classmates as super-positive, loved
by all and a person who would help anyone; and
WHEREAS, Alex, as she was then known, was highly regarded by
teachers who recall her being a bright, creative and friendly young
woman with tremendous potential; she had a deep passion for art and
aspired to be an art teacher after concluding her military career; and
WHEREAS, Not long after her graduation from Dansville High School,
she joined the United States Air Force and was assigned to Mountain Home
Air Force Base, Idaho; Master Sgt. Jeffrey Passut, who deployed with
Staff Sgt. Gleason-Morrow, recalled during her memorial service that she
rolled into the weapons section office at Mountain Home AFB on a
Wednesday in early 2010 and said, 'Hi, I'm Airman Gleason, what do I
need to do;' Staff Sgt. Gleason-Morrow's dedication and drive was
noteworthy and she became the first Senior Airman Team Chief in 389th
Aircraft Maintenance Unit history; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Gleason-Morrow was a Weapons Load Crew Member
with the 366th Fighter Wing; in October of 2016, she was assigned to
332nd Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron where she was part of a team
responsible for performing maintenance duties in support of combat
operations; according to her colleagues, her passion and caring nature
earned her the nickname "Mother Alex," amongst her immediate teammates
and all who served and worked with her; and
WHEREAS, A seven-year veteran, Staff Sgt. Gleason-Morrow was
distinguished professionally, known for being passionate and skillful at
her job; her unique skillset earned her the distinction of briefing the
Commander for United States Central Command on weapons loading
operations during a visit to the airbase; and
WHEREAS, Beyond being a valiant and decorated soldier, Staff Sgt.
Alexandria Gleason-Morrow was also a loving wife to her husband,
Brandon, and a devoted mother to her two daughters, Elysa Mae and
Abigail Shae; and
WHEREAS, The freedoms and security we cherish as Americans come at a
steep price for those who serve in our nation's military; thus it is
fitting and proper that we, who are the beneficiaries of those who risk
their lives, leaving their families behind, express our appreciation and
eternal gratitude for their sacrifices and courageous acts; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the untimely death of Staff Sgt. Alexandria Mae Gleason-Morrow, a
native of Dansville, Livingston County, New York, and to pay tribute to
her courageous service as a member of the U.S. Air Force; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Staff Sgt. Alexandria Mae Gleason-Morrow.
