COMMENDING Claire Baker upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition as the 2017
Volunteer of the Year Honoree by The Food Pantries
for the Capital District

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Claire
Baker upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition as
the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Honoree by The Food Pantries for the
Capital District, to be celebrated at its 23rd Annual Community Auction
on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Christ Our Light Church in Loudonville,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Claire Baker's commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated volunteer with the Mt. Ida Community Food
Pantry for more than three years, Claire Baker faithfully worked every
week, helping guests shop for groceries, restocking shelves, unloading
deliveries and any other tasks requested of her; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Claire Baker volunteers with The Food
Pantries' Food Rescue Program, Capital Region CANstruction, Hunger
Heroes, WGNA's Hunger Games and many other initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Claire Baker has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Claire Baker has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the objective of this Legislative Body to honor and
support those individuals who have displayed their commitment to the
betterment of their communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Claire Baker upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Honoree by The Food
Pantries for the Capital District; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Claire Baker.
