COMMENDING Reverend Dr. George W. Clark upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
on December 10, 2016

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish
themselves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and
preeminence of service; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Reverend
Dr. George W. Clark upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition at a Community Appreciation Banquet to be held in his honor
on December 10, 2016 at the Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club, New York
Mills, New York; and

WHEREAS, A native of Syracuse, New York, George W. Clark was born to
Elder John and Hazel Clark; after graduating high school in 1969, he
worked for the Penn Central Railroad; he then was employed by CSX
Transportation, a position from which he retired from in 2004; and

WHEREAS, After the completion of his Bachelor's Degree in Theology,
Reverend Dr. George W. Clark was called into the ministry in 1978 with
his Doctor of Divinity degree; for 28 years, he oversaw the spiritual
direction of Peter Spencer UAME Church; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. George W. Clark was also a pastor of Grace
Union UAME in Rome, New York and a District Superintendent for the 2nd,
3rd, and 5th Episcopal Districts of the UAME Church which covers New
York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island; and

WHEREAS, As Associate Minister at St. Matthew's Temple COGIC,
Reverend Dr. George W. Clark is the Administrative Assistant to the
Bishop, Superintendent and Pastor Reverend J. L. Griffin; and

WHEREAS, A traveling minister, Reverend Dr. George W. Clark is
well-known throughout the local and far-reaching church community; he
uses his musical talents to spread the words of God in song; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Reverend Dr. George W. Clark holds the position
as the Chaplain of T Revels Funeral Services and works for the Resources
Center for Independent Living (RCIL) in Utica and Rome; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 17 years, Sister
Pamela Clark, who feels privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices
in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. George W. Clark has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, while always displaying

the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and
dedication; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Dr. George W. Clark upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition, noting his unremitting and
compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this
Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Reverend Dr. George W. Clark.
