HONORING Gregory J. Proce upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Bay
Shore-Brightwaters Distinguished Citizen Award by
the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire
State with their strong contributions to the community and model
citizenship; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Gregory J.
Proce upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017 Bay
Shore-Brightwaters Distinguished Citizen Award by the Chamber of
Commerce of Greater Bay Shore, to be celebrated at its 17th Annual
Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Captain
Bill's in Bay Shore, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born in Rockville Center, New York, and raised in
Brightwaters, New York, Gregory J. Proce is a 1987 graduate of Bay Shore
High School; he then attended Southern Connecticut University before
returning to his hometown in 1991; and

WHEREAS, Upon his return, Gregory J. Proce immersed himself in the
community, becoming President of the Bay Shore Lions Club and a member
of numerous other local boards and committees, including the
Brightwaters Village Planning Board and the Bay Shore Summit Council;
and

WHEREAS, Currently, Gregory J. Proce is the Director of the
Executive Board for the Bay Shore Lions Club; in this capacity, he
founded and serves as chair of the Annual Taste for Sight Benefit which
raises money and awareness for causes and non-profit organizations which
address the needs of the Bay Shore-Brightwaters community; and

WHEREAS, For the past three decades, Gregory J. Proce has donated
equipment, materials and laborers from his company, Sit Back and Relax
Ground Maintenance, for the completion of projects and initiatives which
benefit the town, especially those involving beautification; and

WHEREAS, Known as a man of action, Gregory J. Proce energizes all
around him to get involved, lend a hand and get it done; his leadership,
his spirit of generosity, and his service and advocacy for his town has
made Bay Shore and Brightwaters a premier place to live, work and play;
and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jennifer; three
daughters, Caitlin Proce, Hayley Little and Taryn Pena; and two sons,
Justin Pena and the late Gregory Proce, Jr., all of whom have shown him
love and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable man distinguished himself in his profession
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of

his community; throughout his entire life, Gregory J. Proce has stood
constant in dignity, good grace, and humor; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
tribute to those individuals whose commitment and creative talents have
contributed to the entertainment and cultural environment of the
citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gregory J. Proce upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 Bay Shore-Brightwaters Distinguished Citizen Award by the
Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Gregory J. Proce.
