COMMEMORATING the 70th Anniversary of the Matthew
Glab American Legion Post 1477

WHEREAS, Organizations which serve the interests of the people of
the Empire State merit the commendation of this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, Veterans of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Matthew Glab American Legion
Post 1477, celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 2017; and

WHEREAS, The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a
patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual
helpfulness; it is a not-for-profit community-service organization which
now numbers nearly 2.4 million members, men and women, in approximately
14,000 American Legion posts worldwide; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
veterans have demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans and veterans organizations deserve to
be recognized, commended and thanked by the people of the State of New
York for their service and for their dedication to their communities,
their State and their Nation; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Matthew Glab American Legion
Post 1477; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Matthew Glab American Legion Post 1477.
