HONORING Constance Keller upon the occasion of her
induction into the Monticello High School Hall of
Distinction Class of 2016
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Constance Keller upon the occasion of her induction into the Monticello
High School Hall of Distinction Class of 2016; this momentous occasion
was celebrated on Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Arnold Packer Hughs
Auditorium in Monticello High School; and
WHEREAS, Constance Keller, affectionately known as Connie, is a 1963
graduate of Monticello High School; and
WHEREAS, After retiring as a teacher at George L. Cooke Elementary
School in 2002, Constance Keller became an integral part of establishing
the Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County, where she served as the
organization's executive director for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, The Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County is a non-profit
organization which provides a variety of free services to help people
achieve personal goals through literacy; Constance Keller founded this
vital organization in 1994, to combat the area's growing problem of
illiteracy; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Literacy Volunteers of Sullivan County
has grown immensely and now offers dozens of tutors, programs and
resources to help the area's youth and adults become well-versed
readers; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to promoting
literacy throughout her community, Constance Keller's tireless work has
touched the lives of countless families throughout Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, Ms. Keller was presented with the Sullivan County
School Boards Association's (SCSBA) Outstanding Friend to Education
Award in honor of her impact on the education of children in Sullivan
County; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Constance Keller has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Constance Keller has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records that future
generations may know and appreciate her admirable character, her many
benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which she is held by her
peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Constance Keller upon the occasion of her induction into the
Monticello High School Hall of Distinction Class of 2016; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Constance Keller.
