COMMENDING The Honorable Michael C. Lynch upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of The
Honorable Edward S. Conway Judicial Excellence
Award by the Capital District Trial Lawyer's
Association
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in recognizing its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community
and their professions; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend The Honorable Michael C. Lynch upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of The Honorable Edward S. Conway Judicial
Excellence Award by the Capital District Trial Lawyer's Association, to
be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on June 15, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Each year, The Honorable Edward S. Conway Judicial
Excellence Award is presented to commemorate Judge Conway's integrity,
dedication to the fair administration of justice and the energy with
which he delivered it, his timeliness, respectful treatment of members
of the bar, humility, and compassion for all those who appeared before
him; and
WHEREAS, After he graduated from Union College and Albany Law
School, Michael C. Lynch served as an Assistant District Attorney in
Albany County from 1980-1981; he furthered his profession by serving as
a Principal Law Clerk from 1981-1989; and
WHEREAS, Michael C. Lynch engaged in private practice from
1989-2005, while serving as counsel to both the Albany County Industrial
Development Agency and the City of Albany Charter Revision Commission of
1998; and
WHEREAS, Upon his election as a Supreme Court Justice for the Third
Judicial District, Michael C. Lynch left private practice to pursue his
career in the public sector; and
WHEREAS, On April 15, 2014, Michael C. Lynch was appointed to the
Third Department; and
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate
their lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable Michael C. Lynch upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of The Honorable Edward S. Conway Judicial
Excellence Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Michael C. Lynch.
