mourning the death of Joseph A. Mazzariello,
proud Italian immigrant, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Mazzariello of Troy, New York, died on Sunday,
June 26, 2016, at the age of 64; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Mazzariello was born to the late Giovanni and
Immacolata Concetta Carbone Mazzariello in Cervinara, Avellino, Italy;
and

WHEREAS, In 1956, Joseph A. Mazzariello and his family immigrated to
the United States, and settled in Troy, New York; after graduating from
LaSalle Institute, he earned his bachelor's degree from Siena College in
1974; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Mazzariello distinguished himself in his
profession and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of his community; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Joseph A. Mazzariello served the
residents of the City of Troy for nearly 40 years in various capacities,
most recently as Deputy Comptroller, the position from which he was to
retire on Monday, June 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Mazzariello's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Proud of his Italian heritage, Joseph A. Mazzariello was a
lifelong member of the Italian Community Center where he was actively
involved with numerous successful fundraising campaigns; and

WHEREAS, When he was not working or helping someone, Joseph A.
Mazzariello enjoyed spending time with his beloved family at Sunday
dinners and playing bocce with his many friends; and

WHEREAS, Joseph A. Mazzariello is survived by his wife of 40 years,
Antonietta DiPalma Mazzariello; two sons, John A. (Jennifer)
Mazzariello, and Joseph F. (Chelsea) Mazzariello; one daughter,
Concettina (Kevin) Graber; three grandchildren, Sophia, John, and
Joseph; a sister, Francesca (Larry) Mazzariello; and three sisters and
brothers-in-law, Mina (Mauro Lucidone) DiPalma, Enrico (Lynn) DiPalma,
and Fiorino (Mary) DiPalma; as well as several nieces and nephews, and
numerous friends who will long cherish his memory; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Joseph A. Mazzariello leaves behind a legacy which will long

endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joseph A. Mazzariello, proud Italian immigrant,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joseph A. Mazzariello.
