COMMENDING Kenmore Mercy Hospital upon the
occasion of being named a Top Hospital by The
Leapfrog Group
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
institutions of long-standing which have faithfully served the health
needs of the community and its citizens with diligence and compassionate
commitment; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kenmore Mercy Hospital upon the occasion of being named a Top
Hospital by The Leapfrog Group; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers,
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a
movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American
health care; the flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects and
transparently reports hospital performance, empowering purchasers to
find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving
information they need to make informed decisions; and
WHEREAS, The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to
hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers
protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents,
and infections; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President and CEO James
Millard, Kenmore Mercy Hospital received this prestigious distinction
for its dedicated and proven commitment to both patient safety and
quality; and
WHEREAS, One of 115 Top Hospitals recognized across the country,
Kenmore Mercy Hospital has the proud distinction of being the only
facility in New York State to be named a Leapfrog Top General Hospital;
this outstanding recognition is a testament to the hard work and
commitment of its entire staff and their efforts to deliver safe,
high-quality care every day of the year; and
WHEREAS, Kenmore Mercy Hospital was selected as a Top Hospital based
on the results of the 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Survey which evaluated
performance across many areas of hospital care such as infection rates,
physician staffing within the Intensive Care Unit and a hospital's
ability to prevent medication errors; and
WHEREAS, Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat
achieved by less than three percent of hospitals nationwide, with this
honor, Kenmore Mercy Hospital has definitely established its commitment
to safer and higher quality care; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those organizations that have achieved notable accomplishments
and have contributed to the betterment of the residents of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kenmore Mercy Hospital upon the occasion of being named a Top
Hospital by The Leapfrog Group; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James Millard, President and CEO, Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
