COMMENDING Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo upon
the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by Mount Saint Mary College on June 5,
2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by Mount Saint Mary College, to be
celebrated at its 39th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament and 5th
Annual Tennis Tournament on Monday, June 5, 2017, at The Powelton Club
in Newburgh, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo have been selected as
this year's Tennis Honorees in recognition of their steadfast and
unwavering commitment to Mount Saint Mary College and the
community-at-large; and

WHEREAS, Residents of Newburgh, Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo
have been married for 44 years; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Newburgh, Dr. James V. DiLorenzo
attended St. Patrick's High School; after graduation, he earned his
bachelor's degree at Manhattan College, and studied medicine at Albany
Medical College of Union University; and

WHEREAS, After successfully completing his medical education and
training, Dr. James V. DiLorenzo returned to his hometown and opened a
private practice in internal medicine; in 2011, he joined the staff at
St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital Medical Group, where he continues to see
patients on a daily basis; and

WHEREAS, Since 1980, Dr. James V. DiLorenzo has been a vital part of
the Mount Saint Mary College Medical Team; in this capacity, he sees
students at the health clinic every other Friday; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, Dr. James V. DiLorenzo has
served on the Board of Trustees for the Amos and Sarah Holden Home and
the Board of Trustees for the Taconic IPA; in addition, he held the
position of Chair of the Department of Medicine at St. Luke's Cornwall
Hospital, and President of the Orange County Medical Society; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in upstate New York, Bonnie DiLorenzo moved
to Newburgh in 1970, where she attended Orange County Community College
for Medical Technology; after graduation, she served as a medical
technician at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, New York, and the Albany
VA Hospital where she completed research on the effects of vitamin B-12;
and


WHEREAS, Bonnie DiLorenzo volunteers her time and energies to
numerous worthy organizations including the Middle Hope PTO, the
Marlboro Central School District Health and Wellness Committee, the
Newburgh Day Nursery, and the St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital Auxiliary, as
well as the Hospice Auxiliary of Orange and Sullivan counties; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo
have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their two children, Benjamin
and Kristen, both of whom have shown them love and support and rejoice
in their many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Dr. James V. and Bonnie
DiLorenzo have displayed throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by Mount Saint Mary College on June
5, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. James V. and Bonnie DiLorenzo.
