COMMENDING Community Beer Works upon the occasion
of winning the 2017 TAP New York Governors' Brewers'
Cup
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those
businesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves
through outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and
enduring commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Community Beer Works upon winning the Governors' Brewers' Cup at
TAP New York's Craft Beer and Food Festival held April 29-30, 2017; and
WHEREAS, TAP New York started in 1998 as the Hudson Valley Beer and
Food Festival; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, the scope of the event was extended to include the
entire state of New York; craft brewers from Long Island to Buffalo were
invited, and the name TAP New York was born; and
WHEREAS, Over 170 breweries and brewpubs were invited to participate
in TAP New York in 2017, and over 120 breweries poured over 400 craft
beers; and
WHEREAS, Three cups and numerous medals are presented at the beer
tasting competition; the Matthew Vassar Brewers' Cup recognizes the Best
Craft Beer Brewery in the Hudson Valley, the F.X. Matt Memorial Cup goes
to the Best Craft Beer Brewery in New York State, and the Governors' Cup
honors the best individual beer in New York State; and
WHEREAS, Community Beer Works won the Governors' Brewers' Cup for
their Whale Brown Ale at the TAP New York's Craft Beer and Food Festival
held April 29-30, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Ethan Cox, Dan Conley and Gregory Patterson-Tanski
established Community Beer Works, the first nano-brewery in Buffalo, New
York; on April 20, 2012, their first beers were launched at Cole's and
Mister Goodbar in Buffalo; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Community Beer Works' "The IPA" was awarded 2nd
Place in the Brewing News' National IPA Championship, and was named the
Best New Brewery in New York State at the Annual RateBeer Best Awards
Banquet and Beer Festival; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges Community Beer Works' success, recognizes its contributions
to the local and State economies, and extends its highest commendation
to the nano-brewery and its employees, fully confident that it will
enjoy the same sparkling success it has enjoyed thus far; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Community Beer Works upon the occasion of winning the 2017 TAP
New York Governors' Brewers' Cup; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ethan Cox, Dan Conley, and Gregory Patterson-Tanski,
Owners, Community Beer Works.
