HONORING Paul Eaton upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Citizen of the
Years Award by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce on
June 2, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York and individuals whose purposeful endeavors, as
involved members of the community, enhance the quality of life therein;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Paul Eaton upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2017
Citizen of the Years Award by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce at its
Annual Dinner and Celebration on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Sidney
Elks Club in Sidney, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Village of Walton, New York, Paul
Eaton moved to Sidney in 1973 to practice law with Carl Griffith;
together, they formed the law firm, Eaton and Griffith; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of the State University at Buffalo and Albany
Law School, Paul Eaton is a member of the Delaware County and New York
State Bar Associations; additionally, he is a former Delaware County
District Attorney and member of the Committee on Professional Standards
for the 3rd Judicial Department; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Paul Eaton has represented several
towns and fire districts, as well as the Village of Sidney and the
Village of Sidney Industrial Development Agency; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Paul Eaton used his expertise
in law to help numerous civic organizations including the Sidney United
Way, Hospital Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, Dollars for Scholars and
Veterans Memorial Park Foundation; in addition, he is a member of the
American Legion Post No. 183; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Stefka, their three
daughters, Katherine, Shane and Elizabeth and eight grandchildren, who
have all shown him love and support and rejoice in his many
achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Paul Eaton upon the occasion of his designation by the Sidney
Chamber of Commerce as recipient of its 2017 Citizen of the Years Award
on June 2, 2017; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Paul Eaton.
